Krakow Startup Delegation Attends Polish Tech Night In Berlin

Startup communities exist in a duality. On the one hand, there is a heavy emphasis on developing the talent, resources, institutions and events available at the hyper-local level. On the other, the most innovative ecosystems need an outward and global orientation if they are to be successfully competitive in the international market place.

Somewhere in between is the need to nurture regional connections-

Due to its political, economic and financial capital along with a large Polish population, Berlin exerts a distinct and unique gravity upon Polish entrepreneurs and recently brought the Krakow startup community closer into its orbit via the our Berlin Innovation Adventure.

On the invitation of SIBB – ICT & Digital Business Association Berlin-Brandenburg and with the sponsorship of the City of Krakow, a delegation from Krakow Technology Park and the #omgkrk community made the trip to Germany for Polish Tech Night Berlin Vol. 2 on June 22nd, 2017 following a quick tour through the Berlin startup ecosystem. The stops included the Cube Offices where deep-tech startups are connected with global corporations in Industry 4.0, Germany’s leading Science and Technology Park named Adlershof Science Park and a high-end coworking space Mindspace located right in the city center.

Ten firms who are headquartered in Krakow participated in the trip including Synerise, Mamoko, Sense, and Airly which pitched on the main stage of Polish Tech Night Vol. 2 at Telefonica BASECAMP generating considerable enthusiasm for its fight against smog.

The trip allowed for productive networking, engagement, and feedback from potential clients and investors along with gaining knowledge on how to best enter the German market with a trusted partner. A reoccurring theme found in Berlin, and missing in Krakow, was the positive contributions international corporations are making in the local startup ecosystem.

“We need more of these types of trips, thanks to which we learned from a more developed and mature startup ecosystem leading to knowledge transfer that we continue to need in Poland,” said Mateusz Cybula, Co-Manager of Krakow Technology Incubator.
