OMGKRK Academy #7: How To Think Like An Entrepreneur
April 24th, 2018 – Hevre – 6:00pm
On the evening of Wednesday, April 25th, over 50 people from the #OMGKRK community came together asking the question: “How to think like an entrepreneur?”
The three speakers providing answers and sharing knowledge were Piotr Hołubowicz (CEO SEEDiA), Szymon Janicki (Co-founder HCM Deck), Piotr Bucki (Co-Founder j-labs software specialists).
The event took place upstairs in Hevre bar, a new and unique event space in Kazimierz, The spacious loft-style room, had several rows of chairs, a bar in the middle, people sitting around with a beer, chatting or just looking for some new acquaintances.
Whom could you meet there? For example, a French Business Operations manager who is about to start his own business in two weeks. A young student of Information Technology, who came to learn and integrate into a start-up environment, or a team of four Ukrainian Entrepreneurs coming directly from Kiev to join the event and promote their business. You can see the guest list and their community announcements here. Around 6:30 pm the Head of Operations of OMGKRK, Pawel Kulon, took the microphone and asked everyone to join the talks.

‘When you are running a start-up, what do you need as a company, to be a successful start-up? So, for sure you need to have a product that you would like to sell, the second, you need to have a growth strategy and the third, a capable CEO. The last element is crucial in the long run. So, the most important is to have a growth strategy and be able to grow fast.’ – stated Szymon Janicki, whose company HCM Deck just received three mln zł for development and access to foreign markets. Speakers tried to answer the question ‘How to think like an entrepreneur?’ by using their experience. Some of the advice included:
-Change your way of thinking, and it will change your life.
-Looking for the start-up idea, think about the environmental needs, and how your idea can make the world a better place.
-Fake it until you make it. Do you want to be a successful Entrepreneur? Act as if you already are the one.
– Watch the ‘Silicon Valley’ TV Show. It can come in useful!
After the speeches of the three invited entrepreneurs and a short break, there was a discussion panel.
‘What would you tell to the younger yourselves now?’ – asked one person from the audience.
‘I would tell myself do not waste so much time’ – answered Piotr Bucki.

This is useful advice from experienced entrepreneurs. If you didn’t join the meeting on Wednesday, you should do so next time. Learning from more experienced colleagues, expending your network and sharing the knowledge – this is what it’s all about!
