Article written by Agnieszka Pałka of SEED Foundation
Are any kind of entrepreneur? Than you should be interested.
Do you remember how your journey with entrepreneurship started? How old were you and why did it happen? Maybe you were this one kid on the school trip, that bought a lot of candy and was selling it to everyone else, including teachers. Or maybe you joined an NGO and organized public meetings or events, learning marketing skills. You might have also started with your first internship or job during high school or university. Answers differ from one to another, but the fact we observed so far is that most of the best entrepreneurs or specialist of today started really early. You also probably started building value and solving problems early. And experience brought you to where you are today.
I’m Agnieszka Pałka, a technical high school student and one of the founders of the SEED Foundation. Our main goal is to create bridge between companies and students like me, so we can do real and valuable work for businesses.
It’s important for us, as we can see how starting our career paths early, changed our lives. Everyday we meet amazing, talented young people with great potential, that is wasted. You may also meet them in an adult life, because that’s the problem of the whole generations. In contrast to the university students, high school students are overlooked by companies/startups. They also don’t have role models to learn from. But they want to develop, educate alternatively, learn by doing.
It should be important for you, because not noticing high school students as possible assets is a missed opportunity. Don’t miss the opportunity of a whole generations! Do not let them wait too long. Start recruiting high school students now!
What Does SEED Foundation Do?
SEED unites proactive and involved individuals so they can meet companies, startups, NGOs, specialist and help them develop their businesses in exchange for the experience. The form of collaboration that we propose is an internship for a chosen high school student from ones that will response to the offer. SEED students can undertake real and useful tasks, so limited time is spent on training and management. Examples of tasks we can undertake include: coding, UI, graphics for social media, landing page, communication with clients in different languages and more. And if we don’t have the skill right now, and you tell us what we need to be able to do we will learn it – specially for you. Besides getting work done, this kind of internship will also affects the culture of work in the company and strengthens knowledge sharing between team members.
A student gain experience, learn from mentors, who are just colleagues from the office. They get early insights into the world of work in any trade, including technology, sells, marketing, communication with client, design and so on. They create their personal brand, build their future CV or portfolio. Use their talents and potential, build something together! And of course if you like the person we send you and want to offer them a job, we all win.
Our project is mentored by Richard Lucas.
